Catwalk Model - The Journey Through Life
This exhibition addresses the complex and diverse image of the catwalk model that serves as an analogy to modern life. This theme influenced the artist for many years, and after seeing Robert Altman's movie "Ready to Wear" (Pret A Porte) it focused on: The catwalk model, her job, surroundings, and audience.
The catwalk model marches through life alone and unaided. As a model, she is watched by an audience who expects her fall and sees her as a mere sexual object and marketing device. The photographer, the media and the marketing industry use the model as a means to distribute "image".
The artist follows the catwalk model's onstage loneliness, the type of relationships developed with her fellow models, and her played part in the modern marketing industry. The confrontation created by the artist between the catwalk model, her professional environment and nature, symbolizes the current surroundings of modern man. Here, the fashion show functions as a microcosmic arena in which modern man's life passes. The landscape represents the confrontation between the model, hot couture, gentleness, and fragility on one side, and the dark, indifferent nature on the other.
Catwalk model - The Journey represents man's experiences throughout life. Each work of art portrays different stops along the way. Stops, which supply new and shaping experiences to man.
